Typically it is not easy to find technology for good projects to volunteer on. Too few tech-for-good projects launch, scale, and achieve impact in the world.
Open Seattle, a different Code for America brigade, came up with a platform called DemocracyLab.org. It is a website platform where civic technologists can post and find opportunities to work on community tech projects. It is like the Indeed.com for Tech for Good volunteering opportunities. DemocracyLab.org also hosts a variety of Civic Tech Hackathons once a month.
DemocracyLab helps tech for good projects launch by connecting skilled volunteers to projects that need them. We are open to projects from individuals, community organizations, non-profits, social purpose companies and government agencies. Our platform helps volunteers give back and develop new skills, while accelerating the evolution of new technologies that empower citizens and help institutions become more accessible, accountable, and efficient.
